It has become one of the most anticipated post-season events for youth football players in Broward County. The annual Chris Smith All-Star Football Classic pitted North Broward against South Broward in five age appropriate division matchups during the recent showcase at the Lauderhill Sports Complex.

Representing South Broward were players from the Lauderdale Broncos, Lauderhill Lions, Fort Lauderdale Falcons, Lauderdale Lakes Vikings and the Western Tigers. North Broward fielded players from the Pompano Chiefs, Pompano Cowboys, Pompano Eagles, Pompano Steelers and the Deerfield Packer-Rattlers.

Smith, a state senator representing Florida District 31, has been involved in the tournament for the past 12 years. After each game, Smith presents an offensive and defensive Most Valuable Player trophy to players from the North and South squads, as well as a Most Spirited Cheerleader trophy.

In the 6-Under Division all-star contest, North Broward prevailed 7-0, while South Broward claimed a 13-7 victory in the 8-Under Division match-up. The 10-Under Division game saw South Broward win 13-0, and South Broward also took the title, 12-0, in the 12-Under Division action.
